Thorney Hill teenager Milly Whitlock Doe, who fell from a hotel balcony on Majorca, to fly home for continuing treatment

THORNEY Hill teenager Milly Whitlock Doe, who was left critically injured after falling off a hotel balcony in Majorca, is coming home to the UK to continue her hospital treatment.

An air ambulance is being arranged to fly Milly from the Son Espases hospital in the capital of the island Palma.

As reported in the A&T, Milly (15) was put into an induced coma and underwent two brain surgeries after the accident on 27th August. She was on her first family holiday abroad when it happened on the second day.

But now Milly has stunned doctors and her family with her recovery, with doctors confirming she has suffered no brain damage and although the still faces more surgery, the outcome is looking good.

Family friend Erica Arnold said: “Milly is coming home! We have just had fantastic news, Milly is coming home to a hospital in the UK near her family and friends.

“Milly’s family are absolutely thrilled and feel it’s a miracle; three weeks ago they thought they had lost her and now the hospital has confirmed that she has suffered no brain damage, her eyesight and hearing are perfect, and she is not paralysed, but she will still need intensive rehabilitation and at least two further operations, one to rebuild her skull and another on her broken neck.”

The family need around £25,000 to pay for the air ambulance and Milly’s medical bills in Spain. They had not realised they needed holiday insurance as they had never before travelled abroad.

A JustGiving page for Milly has raised over £13,000.

Erica said Milly’s parents, who have been spending every day at her bedside, have been left overwhelmed by the response to the appeal.

She said: “Once again, the family would like to thank you all for your continued support, kind wishes and donations which have helped them through the last three weeks. An air ambulance has been organised, and all the necessary plans have been made.”

Villagers in Thorney Hill and nearby Bransgore have rallied round the “horse mad” teenager. A bingo night fundraiser last Friday raised nearly £2,000.
