Oaklands Rest Home opens in-house salon

THERE’S a bit of a do at a Forest care home after it opened an in-house salon.

Managers at Oaklands Rest Home in Marchwood said they have responded to residents’ “heartfelt wishes” by creating the facility at the Veal’s Lane site.

A home spokesperson said they have previously welcomed a local hairdresser for regular visits, but residents said they wanted a permanent salon where they could have their hair washed, cut and styled in a “comfortable and familiar” environment.

Care home manager Nicola Ray added: “It’s extremely important for us to listen to our residents and create a space they love.

“The new salon is not only equipped for hair care but also offers beauty services, allowing our residents to indulge in pampering treatments and prepare for special occasions.

“Residents of Oaklands have been delighted by the unveiling of the new salon.

“One resident said: “I really enjoyed going to the salon with my daughter for my nails – it was a real treat.””

Head of maintenance at the family owned, dementia registered home, Dave Ray, has now created both a salon and a “cosy café area” for socialising on the premises.
