60-year-old Lymington man 'threatened member of the public with knife' during attempted robbery at The Saltern pub

A MAN was threatened by a knife-wielding assailant at a Lymington pub during an attempted robbery last night (Tuesday).

The incident happened after a 60-year-old local man went into The Saltern pub in Stanford Road just before 9.30pm, Hampshire police said.

He reportedly made threats to a member of the public at the bar while possessing the weapon.

A spokesman for Hampshire Constabulary confirmed to the A&T: "Police arrived at the scene and arrested a 60-year-old man from Lymington on suspicion of attempted robbery.

"No injuries were reported."
