Christchurch’s Living Advent Calendar back with best of music world to entertain all through the festive period
ONE of Christchurch’s favourite festive events will be back this year showcasing 24 local musical talents.
The Living Advent Calendar features a different performance every day in the town when a ‘window’ is opened.
Last year the free-to-attend event, organised by Christchurch Rotary, raised £20,000 for local charities.
Singers, saxophonists, piano players, bands and choirs all took part in the eagerly anticipated event.
Huge crowds turned out to enjoy the free music singalong and have a dance.
This year the calendar will be launched by mayor of Christchurch Cllr Paul Hilliard in Saxon Square on 1st December.
People can follow the advent calendar via the website and social media to find out where that day’s performance will be and by whom.
Windows will be opened every day at 10am to reveal who will be taking to the stage at venues around the town which have donated their space for free.
Sponsored principally by the Primrose Trust and supported by many local businesses, the event is also made possible by the fact that performers give their time for free.
Originally started in Stockholm over 15 years ago, the living advent calendar has proved hugely popular.
In Christchurch it will end with a special event at Saxon Square at 2pm on Christmas Eve
