Teenage girl hospitalised after gang attack near Mudeford Community Centre
WITNESSES and video footage are being sought by police four weeks after a teenage girl was assaulted by a gang in Christchurch.
The victim, a local 13-year-old, was targeted while walking with a friend along a gravel footpath between Mudeford Community Centre and The Runway at around 3.15pm on Thursday 1st April.
The Dorset force said it had only recently managed to speak to her.
A group of 20 young people riding bicycles and scooters started shouting abuse at the girl after she had left the park next to the centre.
One female member of the group approached and kicked her in the leg, causing her to fall to the ground.
Having got up and continued along the path, the victim was further assaulted to the head and had to be taken to hospital for treatment to minor injuries.
People are now being urged to come forward if they saw the incident or recorded any footage.
PC Erin Hill said: “We have only just been in a position to speak to the victim of this incident and I am appealing to anyone who was in the area of the park, community centre or the footpath at the relevant time and either witnessed the incident, or captured it on a mobile phone, to please contact Dorset Police.”
