THE new owner of a Forest pub close to the River Avon has an ambition to put the premises back on the map as the place to dine when it re-opens after a revamp.
The leasehold of The New Queen Inn, located on the B3347 between Christchurch and Ringwood, has been bought by Link Pub Co Ltd, which has run several pubs and restaurants in Dorset and Somerset. Avon Tyrrell Estate own the freehold and land.
Having been closed for the past four months, the substantial two-storey premises will open its doors in June.
It comprises a spacious, open plan bar and restaurant for up to 140 covers and a huge garden with lawns, a children’s play area and a decked area with an additional 30 covers, making it well equipped to cater to high levels of trade.
A spokesperson from Link Pub Co said: “We are looking forward to re-opening after our renovation works. Avon is a beautiful area and deserves a successful, welcoming pub which can cater for not only the local community, but the many visitors who explore the area every year.
“Our aim is to put The New Queen Inn back on the map as a place to dine. It has previously enjoyed a robust trade, and with exciting plans and new ideas in place, we are sure it will continue to be a successful pub for many years to come.”
The New Queen Inn sees significant passing trade and visitors drawn to the area, particularly in the summer months.
Richard Wood, senior business agent at property advisers Christie & Co which was handling the sale, said: “I was delighted to facilitate this transaction, which will see another well-known pub re-open its doors with a successful operator at the helm.
“We wish Link Pub Co Ltd every success in what will be a strong business for many years to come.”
