NEW Forest Hockey Club’s ladies first team were undeterred by tough weather conditions as they set about demolishing hosts Blandford.

Forest struck within the opening minutes with top scorer Jade Lock adding to her season’s tally.

Forest kept the momentum going, and as a result of some silky passing and teamwork, two more goals arrived. Lauren Gavin and Lia Waine providing clinical assists for Lock’s second and third strikes.

Although suffering an early onslaught, Blandford continued to battle, pulling back a well-worked goal.

At 3-1, Blandford were back in the game, but Forest reacted quickly and put further distance between the two sides with two more goals before half-time.

Gavin added to the score sheet, making no mistake when firing the ball into the bottom corner before Lock scored her fourth with a converted penalty corner to make it 5-1.

The second half was one-way traffic with more goals coming from New Forest, Gavin with her second and Lock with her fifth.

Maz Brewis then opened her account for the season with a rocket shot from a well-worked penalty corner routine.

The game was kept out of Blandford’s reach with tidy defensive work from New Forest’s back three, along with continuous battling across the midfield and stretching saves from keeper Maya Yates.

The 10th goal of the game came from an unstoppable short-corner shot from Blandford. But again the consolation goal was short-lived, with Forest forward Josie Morris wrong-footing the keeper with a lovely strike for a final 9-2 victory to the New Forest.
