A TEENAGE girl was rescued by firefighters after becoming trapped waist-deep in mud at Highcliffe beach yesterday evening.
The alarm was raised around 7.10pm, with reports the 14-year-old had got into difficulty on the seafront near Cliffhanger Café, off Waterford Road. She had been complaining of numbness in her legs.
Crews from New Milton and Christchurch responded, along with a rescue team from Poole fire station, and the coastguard.
The youngster was freed from the mud by the Poole team within an hour of the callout and handed over to paramedics.
Described by Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service as uninjured, the teenager was assessed and discharged at the scene, said a spokesperson for South Western Ambulance Service.
