What’s On: The Dolly Show, Regent Centre, Christchurch
DOLLY Parton fans are in for a treat as top impersonator Kelly O’Brien brings her dazzling show to Christchurch Regent Centre.
As seen on BBC ONE, ITV This Morning and Sky, and featured in many national newspapers, Kelly is the only impersonator endorsed by the Parton family and has been voted the U.K’s best Dolly Parton Impersonator.
Australian-born Kelly is hailed as a world-class entertainer who is renowned for her stunning vocals and flawless comic timing. Fans of the show say that she brilliantly captures the voice, verve and voluptuousness of the little lady from Tennessee.
Kelly first began singing country music at the age of 14. Two years later she was crowned South Australian country vocalist of the year and best new talent at the pan-Australian Gympie Muster country festival.
Her first national television appearance was on the talent show New Faces, and she was one of the last 12 finalists in ‘POPSTARS 2’ in 2000.
In 2002 Kelly secured the lead role in the German production of Starlight Express, which led to a record contract with ZYX music and the release of a German Top 10 single.
Other theatre credits include The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Tonight’s the Night, and Hollywood in Concert. After moving to the UK, Kelly worked as a freelance singer and actress, and in 2007 she decided to bring the joy of Dolly Parton to audiences around the UK.
In 2020 she produced The Dolly Show, which she is now touring with her band.
Her UK television credits include ITV’s This Morning and Lorraine, BBC Breakfast, Channel 4’s The Last Leg, and the X Factor, and her radio credits include BBC Radio 2’s Jeremy Vine and Scott Mills shows. She has been crowned the UK’s best Dolly tribute act four times.
Accompanied by top musicians, Kelly will perform hits such as 9 to 5, Jolene, Islands In The Stream, I Will Always Love You, and many others
The Dolly Show will be at Christchurch Regent Centre on Saturday 21st September. Tickets are priced £26. For more information and bookings, visit www.regentcentre.co.uk or contact the box office on 01202 499199.
