What’s On: Summer Sessions, Guildhall Square, Southampton
SOUTHAMPTON’S Guildhall Square will be the setting for a series of outdoor summer music concerts featuring Madness, Kaiser Chefs, Paloma Faith and Placebo.
Taking place between 15th and 30th June, the TK Maxx Summer Sessions will see the square transformed into a buzzing live music hub welcoming artists from across the globe.
Other hit makers to feature in the series of concerts include Tom Jones, Nile Rodgers and Chic, Air and Loyle Carner.
Founded back in 2013 by DF Concerts, Summer Sessions became a much-loved and highly anticipated live music series in Scotland with events taking place in cities including Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Renowned for regularly showcasing a diverse range of world-leading talent, previous headliners include Eminem, Foo Fighters, Kendrick Lamar, Florence + The Machine and David Guetta.
On Thursday 27th June, pioneering French electronic duo Air will play their ground-breaking debut album Moon Safari featuring the hit singles in Kelly Watch The Stars, All I Need and Sexy Boy, marking 25 years since its release. Air has consistently pushed the boundaries of electronic music, with soundscapes and impeccable production having earned them a Grammy for Best Electronic Dance Album.
Then on Friday 28th June, Paloma Faith will deliver her distinctive blend of lavish pop and honest storytelling. Known for her soul-stirring vocals and flair, Faith rose to fame with her 2009 debut album, Do You Want the Truth or Something Beautiful?
Summer Session guests can expect to hear tracks from her personal upcoming sixth studio album the Glorification of Sadness, alongside beloved favourites such as Only Love Can Hurt Like This and Lullaby.
One of the leading voices in British rap, Loyle Carner will illuminate Southampton Summer Sessions on Saturday 29th June, with his inimitable live performance. The critically acclaimed artist is known for his deeply personal storytelling and distinctive sound. His music, hailed as a seamless blend of hip-hop rhythms with soulful undertones, includes the hits Yesterday, Damselfly and Ottolenghi.
