What’s On: Russell Watson, Christchurch priory





RENOWNED British tenor Russell Watson will be in concert in Christchurch next month as part of his Magnificent Buildings Tour.

The popular concert tour will see Russell appear in some of the most historic abbeys and cathedrals across the country, including Exeter Cathedral, Bath Abbey, Truro Cathedral, Stoke Minister and St Nicolas Church in Newbury.

He will be at Christchurch Priory on Tuesday 24th September and, as with each stop on the tour, Russell will be supported on stage by a local choir.

Russell has sold more than seven million albums and performed for the Queen, the Pope and two US presidents. Captivating to watch and enchanting to listen to, Russell is loved by audiences for his entertaining live performances.

His unique voice has captivated audiences around the world, earning him numerous awards and accolades including four Classical Brit awards. The world-renowned tenor will be performing a special show with classic songs old and new, together with a selection of his most loved hits. He will be accompanied by his arranger and pianist Mike Moran.

After a successful run throughout 2023 and spring 2024, the tour has been hailed as a special experience, celebrating music in some of the UK's most stunning venues.

Described by the New York Times as a performer “who sings like Pavarotti and entertains the audience like Sinatra”, Russell has released 10 acclaimed studio albums.
