What’s On: Hythe’s Rock the Pier

Rock The Pier is returning to Hythe tomorrow (Saturday) with a packed programme of live music.

The popular annual event, which is organised by the Hythe Pier Heritage Association, was first launched five years ago.

Musicians will appear throughout the day on a specially erected stage on the Promenade behind the Lord Nelson public house.

The programme begins at 12.30pm with music from the Trav Cats followed by Johnson Van Dykes, Vision, REMbrandt and Stone Branches. The final set of the evening will see The Soulcatchers wrap up the festival with an hour-long session from 6.30pm.

Event spokesperson Alan Titheridge said: “Rock The Pier is all about engaging with the community and of course raising funds towards the restoration of our historic Hythe Pier and iconic Pier Railway. HPHA merchandising will be on sale; this includes the 2023 Rock the Pier T-shirts.”

This year’s festival has been sponsored by The Scratch Project, PPL/PRS, Zillwoods, Philpotts Fish and Chips and New Forest Care. The day will include a raffle with prizes donated by local businesses including a family ticket to Paultons Park and Exbury Gardens.

Alan added: “HPHA hops everyone will enjoy the occasion and donate generously, either by buying its merchandising or by dropping coins into the buckets that will be shaking around the village.”

Further donations can be made via the HPHA website www.hythepierha.org.uk.
