What’s On: An Evening with Robin Askwith, Forest Arts, New Milton

CARRY On legend and former Coronation Street star Robin Askwith will lift the lid on a lifetime in show business during his one-man adult show at Forest Arts in New Milton.

The intimate show will provide the usual slanderous, somewhat hysterical take on Robin’s life that connects polio, Pasolini, Peter Purves and Pete Walker. Not forgetting Sid James and Sooty!

Show spokesperson Ian Woolley, from New Milton, explained that Robin now lives on the Island of Gozo near Malta.

Ian added: “The Confessions and Carry On legend Robin Askwith promises to be his penultimate, last-ever solo stand-up show (possibly…)!”

From Bless This House to Madame Blanc, via Benidorm, fans are told to expect the outrageous, as always, from Britain’s Number one name-dropper and trouser-dropper.

In a career that has spanned more than five decades, Robin has appeared in films such as Bless This House, Confessions of a Window Cleaner, Confessions of a Driving Instructor, Confessions of a Poem Performer, Carry on Girls, and many others.

He has also starred in a number of TV shows including Coronation Street, Benidorm, and The Madam Blanc Mysteries.

In 1999 Robin published his autobiography, titled The Confessions of Robin Askwith and in 2000, he appeared in the horror film The Asylum. In panto Robin has appeared with the Chuckle Brothers in Dick Whittington and with Frank Bruno and Sooty in a production of Goldilocks and the Three Bears.

He most recently appeared in the very last episode of Inside Number 9 where once again he bared his behind. The adult-themed show is recommended for over-18s.

Robin will be at Forest Arts on Sunday 8th December. Doors open at 6.45pm and the show will begin at 7.30pm. Tickets are priced £20 in advance. Visit www.forest-arts.co.uk or call the box office on 01425 612393.
