The Wind in the Willows: Toad’s Big Musical Adventure, Mast Mayflower Studios
A CAST of more than 50 local youngsters will appear in a Christmas youth production of The Wind in the Willows: Toad’s Big Musical Adventure.
On stage from Sunday 22nd to Tuesday 31st December the show joins Rat, Badger, Mole and Toad as the classic tale of The Wind in the Willows is brought to life packed with musical hits, comedy and fun for the family.
The cast is led by Alex as the eccentric Toad, Grace as the gentle Mole, Charlie as the wise old Rat, and Thomas as the strong and steady Badger.
Audiences are invited to take a wonderful journey through the seasons along the banks of the Test, down the open road (watch out for Toad in his motorcar!) around the snow-covered New Forest, and through the Wild Wood (beware of those weasels!) to the magnificent Toad Hall.
Mayflower’s Christmas Youth Production gives young people aged 11 to 18 the opportunity to work together, rehearsing weekly over three months with a professional creative team, taking a show from the first read through to a run of performances over Christmas.
Mayflower chief executive and creative director Michael Ockwell said: “We invest considerable sums into our youth productions to ensure we have the same production values as any professional touring show.
“This is our way of giving back to the community and creating opportunities for the talented young people in our region. We actively seek out talent, taking outreach workshops into local schools and colleges to find people with a passion for performing arts.”
This is the fourth Christmas youth production, following A Christmas Carol in 2023, Alice – A Musical Adventure in Wonderland in 2022 and Peter Pan: An Awfully Big Musical Adventure in 2021.
The Wind in the Willows: Toad’s Big Musical Adventure will be onstage at Mast Mayflower Studios from Sunday 22nd December to Tuesday 31st December. Tickets are from £20.
