The Magic of Terry Pratchett, The Attic, Totton
A COMIC lecture created as a tribute to the late author Sir Terry Pratchett will be on stage in Totton next month.
Last year marked the 40th anniversary of the publication of The Colour of Magic, the first book in the landmark comic fantasy Discworld series by Sir Terry, one of the world’s most widely read authors. Conventions dedicated to his work are held globally every year, and his works have been translated into 40 different languages, sold 100 million copies and have been performed on stage around the world.
Now Marc Burrows, the author of the Lotus Award-winning first biography of Sir Terry, The Magic of Terry Pratchett, will bring his show inspired by the book to The Attic.
Marc later adapted his book into a multimedia comic lecture, with full endorsement from Narrativia, the company founded to protect and promote the late author’s work in association with his estate.
The Magic of Terry Pratchett sees Burrows explore Sir Terry’s influences, his rise to fame, impact, and unique life, becoming one of the most beloved storytellers of all time.
From his days as a school librarian, to his time as a trainee journalist, to his untimely death in 2015 and in keeping with the celebrated author’s own style, the show also examines his death, and the activism he was involved with toward the end of his life surrounding dementia treatment and the right to die, an important part of his story and legacy.
Marc Burrows will present The Magic of Terry Pratchett at The Attic, Totton, on Saturday 15th March. Tickets are £16.50. To book visit: theatticsouthampton.co.uk
