Former Happy Mondays and Black Grape singer Shaun Ryder set to play The Barn in Ringwood and Lighthouse in Poole
WILD man of rock and former Happy Mondays frontman Shaun Ryder will be The Barn in Ringwood and Lighthouse Poole next month as part of a UK-wide spoken word tour.
A leading figure on the Manchester cultural scene of the late 1980s and early 1990s, Shaun will talk candidly about his hedonistic life in the music industry, his successful TV career, and everything in between.
In 2010 Shaun starred in the ITV show I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!, finishing second behind Stacey Solomon. He has also appeared on Gogglebox, Celebrity Juice, Celebrity Mastermind and even Shameless.
A talented poet and songwriter, Shaun’s past substance abuse is well documented, including a heroin addiction that lasted around 20 years. He was diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia later in life, and in 2004 was the subject of a BBC3 documentary Shaun Ryder: The Ecstasy and Agony.
Shaun is touring in support of his new book: Happy Mondays – and Fridays and Saturdays and Sundays.
Shaun said: “I have certainly had a bit of a mad life and I can’t wait to share all my stories from Happy Mondays, Black Grape and beyond.
“This is me at my most honest; nothing is off the table – expect the unexpected and prepare for me to twist your melons, man.”
Music fans will have the chance to hear about Shaun’s carnival of excess, wild tales, and improbable truths, as they enjoy the talents of a unique music star dubbed Britpop’s answer to WB Yeats. Due to the nature of material, the show is recommended for over 18s.
Shaun will be at The Barn in Ringwood on Friday 27th September and at Lighthouse Poole on Saturday 28th September.
