The Monkey Brewhouse pub in Lymington hosts ‘bigger and better’ summer beer festival

A FOREST pub’s summer beer festival is set to kick off today (Friday) with a vibrant lineup of live music and 30 different brews ranging from modern cask ales to keg IPAs.

The three-day event at the Monkey Brewhouse in Lymington is promised to be “bigger and better” than last year, and will raise vital funds for Lymington’s RNLI station.

Brewer Will Bradshaw, who took over the Southampton Road pub with wife Lizzie in 2019, is guaranteeing a “memorable weekend”.

“We have a micro-brewery on site which has been producing beer since 2021,” he said. “We’ve brewed 31 different beers to date ranging from modern cask ales, keg IPAs, pales, dark beers, and our ever popular Forest lager.

“I have chosen some exciting beers from breweries far and wide for everyone to try alongside some Monkey favourites; and we have gathered even more of the best local live bands and musicians to play on our sunny terrace outside the brewery.”

Barbecue food will be on offer throughout the weekend, along with wines, cocktails and soft drinks, and there will be music from The Ed Martin Duo, seven-piece band Brando Six & Sax, The Peter Cooley Duo, Mucky Fingers. Hugh Budden and Pete Harris, Tannersbrook, and the Kev Jackson Duo.

As the pub’s charity partner for this year, the local RNLI branch will receive 10p from every pint sold, and a raffle will also be held to raise funds.

The station costs around £85,000 a year to run, and any money raised at the festival will go towards crew training and kit.
