PANTO will be back in Milford this month with a home-grown cast and script.

Sleeping Beauty will be rolled out at Milford Community Centre for six performances between Thursday 20th January and Sunday 23rd.

Director Brenda Evans said: “After months of rehearsing amidst the stresses and strains of an attack far worse than our Wicked Fairy could devise, we are ready to present to you our fabulous panto, the Sleeping Beauty!

“Our cast and crew have valiantly worked through viruses and restrictions – like many of you – and are eager to bring you an entertainment of light-hearted and side-bursting joy.

“Escape with us on a tale of love and beauty, good overcoming evil and a happy, bright future.”

She added: “I think the village felt bereft last year not having a panto – certainly the cast did, so this year we’re keeping our fingers crossed that nothing will scupper it.”

This year’s script has been put together by Brenda, Chrissie King and Richard Dix.

In recent years the Milford panto has become such a popular community event that 90% of seats were sold before Christmas.

It involves the local dance school, village children and adults, and draws upon the talents of many local people both on stage and behind the scenes.

Brenda continued: “Not only does it bring top-quality entertainment to the audiences, but it brings people together as volunteers in cast and crew who make lasting friendships.

“As one volunteer put it: ‘It has changed my life’.”

The pantomime is a community centre production and proceeds go back into its coffers to help with the cost of keeping the facility running.

Tickets are £12 for adults and £6 for children.
