Monty Python and The Foley Grail, Mast Mayflower Studios

AUDIENCES can join in with the silliness during a 50th anniversary tour of Monty Python and The Foley Grail.

The madcap adventure has been reimagined as an interactive and immersive experience, which will be at Southampton’s Mast Mayflower Studios as part of the city’s annual film festival later this month.

Described as a silly show for silly people, on arrival, audience members will be handed a package of foley-delights and guided by a cue-master to add live sound effects en masse. The screening will feature plenty of surprises, with Python fans promised that coconuts will definitely be involved.

Released in 1975, Monty Python and the Holy Grail is hailed as a comedy masterpiece and a beloved cult classic, which later inspired a West End and Broadway show. The story follows the legendary King Arthur and his band of hilarious knights on a quest filled with the Knights of Ni, a rude Frenchman and a killer rabbit.

The side-splitting event will take place at Mast Mayflower Studios on Friday 15th November as part of Southampton Film Week, the city’s annual film festival. Audience members will be able to help create the magic of the film with live sound effects.

Southampton Film Week is now in its 17th year and is delivered by the charity City Eye to offer a range of film screenings and create a platform in support of the filmmaking community.

Other SFW highlights include a 100th anniversary screening of the Buster Keaton classics Sherlock Jr & The Navigator with live musical accompaniment at Turner Sims on Saturday 9th November; Marcel The Shell with Shoes On at Mast Mayflower Studios on Tuesday 12th November and The General (1926) with Live Organ score at the O2 Guildhall on Thursday 14th November.
