Letter: NFDC have done a good job on wheelie bins

There’s been so much moaning about bins and criticism of the NFDC. I back the NFDC in their endeavours – they’ve worked hard on this and have generally done a good job, even if the roll-out of the new bins is still suffering from some teething problems.

Personally, I like the new large bins. The donkeys love them too and take great pleasure in knocking them over. The food bins not so much, especially their ill-conceived locking mechanism. But hey, let’s not make all this fuss when there is such a simple solution.

The instruction to those of us in grazing areas must be to keep the bins inside our gates (making it easy for the collections to be made safely and efficiently). The instruction to the bin men must be to actively look for and pick up our bins from inside our gates (closing the gates behind them if they’ve no alternative but to open them).

We all must do our bit.
