LEARN MOREA SERIES of one-act plays are set to be performed at Hanger Farm Arts Centre later this month as local amateur groups compete for a place in the next round of the All England Theatre Festival.
From Tuesday 22nd March until Saturday 27th, local groups will be on stage every evening from 7pm.
Now in its 43rd year, the Totton Festival of Drama will feature 14 one-act plays. Three will be performed each evening from Tuesday to Friday, and a further two on the Saturday evening followed by the awards ceremony.
The performances will be judged by professional adjudicator Keith Phillips. The winner will go on to the All England One-Act Theatre Festival, and could eventually represent England in the British finals.
Groups taking part include Limitless Academy of Performing Arts, Studio Youth Theatre, Starcast Drama Company and Bournemouth Little Theatre Club.
Totton Festival of Drama chair Mike Farleigh said: “All groups, except one, come from across the south from Bournemouth, Southampton, Salisbury, Bishopstoke and Havant.
“One group, Limitless Theatre, have heard such great things about the Totton festival that they decided they wanted to come down from Stevenage for their first Totton experience!
“Having the opportunity to perform at the Hanger Farm Arts Centre, a converted 17th century barn with such a great ambience, is really exciting for the young people.”
Tickets are £9 per evening. Call the box office on 023 8066 7683 or visit www.minsteadtrust.org.uk/hanger-farm
