Green Room Live, Forest Arts, New Milton
INTERNATIONAL, regional and local musicians will feature in a series of Green Room Live music nights at New Milton’s Forest Arts throughout August.
Taking place on Thursdays, the gigs showcase the best musical talent from the local area and beyond.
On 15th August Bryan McPherson, Dielle and Megan Wardroper will perform.
Boston native and freedom-seeking singer-songwriter McPherson sought out refuge in Emigrant, a small town on the edge of Yellowstone, to settle down in order to free his mind and conscience of the shackled idealisms of the modern world. It was in this small town that McPherson wrote his latest album Emigrant and the Winter of Death.
DiElle is a local songstress with a knack for brutally honest lyrics, and a voice that could bring a tear to the eye of the most stone-hearted souls.
Meanwhile Wardroper is a singer-songwriter from the marshlands of Kent. Her songs shine a light on mental health, love, loss and the peculiarities of being human.
On 22nd August the Chris Woods Groove Orchestra, Jake Puntis and Jonathan Vernam will be on stage. Described as a guitar explorer and innovative collaborator Woods uses every inch of the guitar to create an inspirational sound.
Southampton-born fingerstyle guitar instrumentalist Puntis has played all over the world and recently supported Jon Gomm. Local talent Vernam has played alongside some of the best guitarists in the world including Woods, Will McNicol and Clive Carroll.
Finally on 29th August Carrie Martin, Lost Post and Nathan Evans complete the line-up. Born in Hull, Martin is an acoustic guitarist and singer/songwriter described by Rick Wakeman as “phenomenal”. Lost Post are an alt-country trio who draw on rich storytelling elements, woven into a unique blend of foot-stomping country, swampy blues and delicate folk music. Evans is a versatile artist whose expressive and honest music crosses electronic and alt-rock genres.
Green Room Live starts at 7.30pm. Tickets are £7 in advance or £10 on the door. For more information and bookings visit forest-arts.co.uk
