New festive tasting day at the Farmers Butcher in Bramshaw




A New Forest butcher is set to hold a free Christmas-themed tasting day.

Inspired by the success of a previous tasting day at the Hampshire Food Festival in the summer, the Farmers Butcher is holding another at its farm shop at in Bramshaw.

There will be a raft of events on the day, including a visit by Twinkle the pony from the Flutterby Fund, the Farmers Butcher’s nominated charity, which helps children with special needs access equine therapy.

Plenty of demos and tastings will be held, master butcher Mike Alexander – owner of the Farmers Butcher – will be cooking feather blade and turkey to taste, and there will be mini-butchery demos on how to make your own bacon and how to cook on a Kamado barbecue grill.

Rusty BBQ Company will have samples of their award-winning barbecue seasonings, while Tania from the Sozzled Cook will be showing off her cocktail-inspired marinades.

Visitors can also enjoy Troffbar’s coffee trailer and a cake wagon by Kim’s Cakes. There will be tasty burgers and hotdogs, with a donation for each one sold going to the Flutterby Fund.

There will be plenty of local food and drink to try and buy, including rum and gins from Nightingale Distilleries, and fragrant apple juices from Hill Farm Juice.

Run by Mike and Sarah Alexander, the Farmers Butcher is now in its seventh year of trading. What started primarily as a catering butchery has evolved into an established and highly acclaimed farm shop where local produce is the star attraction.
