Lime Wood Hotel Herb House launches ayurvedic treatments with therapist and reiki practitioner Sheena Chandran

A LUXURY New Forest spa has become one of the first in the country to offer its own bespoke ayurvedic treatments, said to re-balance the mind, body and spirit.

Lime Wood Hotel’s Herb House has recently welcomed ayurvedic therapist and reiki practitioner Sheena Chandran who will be sharing the principles of ayurveda, which she mastered in India.

Sheena obtained her certification of Ayurveda nursing and panchakarma from the renowned Amala Ayurvedic Hospital Research Centre in Kerala, and then spent time practising at Kamalaya Wellness Sanctuary in Koh Samui, Thailand.

She has a passion for personalised care, and studied reiki techniques to complement her ayurvedic skills. Sheena strongly feels that when ayurvedic and reiki practices work in tandem, the “journey to a place of physical and mental balance is more attainable”.

From the abhyanga treatment, where warm oil is poured across the body followed by long, energy mapped strokes, to the lumbosacral therapy in which a mix of herbal paste dough and warm oil is massaged into the lower back, the new Herb House ayurvedic treatments are designed to improve mind and body issues, particularly stress and lack of sleep.

Sheena’s Indian head massage can help improve sleep and circulation, while her reiki practices “open and balance the chakras”, designed to reduce stress and anxiety. Sheena can also tailor ayurvedic therapies for each guest.

The principles of ayurveda originated in India. The ayurvedic goal is to stay healthy and happy, “rebalancing through realistic practices” with often small-but-mighty lifestyle tweaks.

Herb House director Tammy Kenyon said: “We are delighted to welcome Sheena to Herb House and for her to bring the powerful properties of ayurveda to our spa treatment menu.

“With her great wealth of experience and knowledge, Sheena will be joining the team to further our holistic treatment offering, with a number of wellbeing rituals from India. Designed to restore balance to mind, body and spirit, our location in the Forest is the perfect setting for this exciting new offering in the spa.”
