The New Forest Painters Autumn Exhibition will be held at Lyndhurst Community Centre
A showcase of work by New Forest painters is set to be exhibited at Lyndhurst Community Centre this month.
The free-to-enter autumn show will feature work by professional artists Barry Peckham, Richard and Hillary Tratt, Alan and Janet Langford, Jennifer Pitt, Courtney Leggett, Sue Kerrigan-Harris, Barry Miles and Pam Baker.
Exhibition spokesperson Alan Langford said: “Although the subject matter is predominantly the New Forest, the exhibition will not only be displaying New Forest landscapes.
“Visitors who admire excellent portraiture, exotic animals and mysterious Celtic mythology should be very pleased with the exhibition’s variety of subjects and use of various artistic mediums.
“The show promises to be a visually exciting experience - there should be something for everyone.”
The landscape of the New Forest has fascinated artists for centuries, with the likes of William Shayer, John Emms, Frederick Golden Short, Heywood Sumner, Lucy Kemp Welch all taking inspiration from the stunning landscape.
Alan continued: “In these times of increasing environmental awareness provoked by the threats created by the industrial exploitation of the natural world, we are fortunate to have this example of ancient wilderness in our locality.
“An unhurried stroll through the forest in any season can be a calmingly rewarding experience, freely available to everyone, and this exhibition should poignantly enhance that extraordinary natural awareness.”
The New Forest Painters Autumn Exhibition is at Lyndhurst Community Centre on 12th and 13th October from 10am to 5pm. Admission is free, with displayed work available to buy.
