Clifftop Music Fest returns to Highcliffe with ‘70s celebration

INSPIRED by 1970s nostalgia, Wharncliffe Road in Highcliffe will be the setting for the second annual Clifftop Music Fest.

Billed as a chance to get immersed in a celebration of the iconic sounds that inspired a generation, this year’s festival headliners will be O’Jay City playing the hits of the mighty O’Jays and other Philadelphia legends.

The band features three of the most sought-after singers on the London live music circuit: Nate Rich, Carlton White and Christopher Richards. Collectively they have more than 50 years of live performance experience, appearing in West End theatre shows and national touring productions. Together they promise to deliver great vocals, fantastic harmonies and O’Jay-style choreography for a memorable and entertaining show.

Other acts confirmed to appear include Sara Harris, DJ MC Retro Grooves, local singing group The Diamond Divas, Jitterbug – the Bournemouth Lindy Hop Club, the Susie Kimber Band, local gospel group Sound of Soul, Lou Taylor’s Soul Train and Madison Heights.

Festival spokesperson and chair of the Highcliffe Action Team, Mandy Polkey, said: “We’re thrilled to bring back the festival for its second year. Last year’s event was a resounding success, and we can’t wait to build on that momentum and create an even more memorable experience for our community. It’s a chance to come together, let loose, and relive the magic of the ‘70s.”

Beyond the music, festival-goers can also enjoy retro dance-offs, vintage fashion contests, and a variety of activities for all ages. There will be a range of food and drink stalls run by local vendors.

Mandy continued: “The 1970s music festival is not just about the music, it’s about coming together as a community, celebrating our shared heritage, and creating lasting memories together. This festival is a testament to the vibrant culture and talent of Highcliffe, showcasing the best of what our community has to offer.”

Clifftop Music Fest will take place at Wharncliffe Road in Highcliffe on Saturday 7th September from 11am to 7.30pm. Tickets are £7 for adults and free for children. To find out more visit highcliffevillage.com
