Boeing-Boeing by Marc Camoletti will be on stage at Lymington’s Malt Hall

BUCKLE up for sky-high comedy as Lymington Players perform the 1960s farce Boeing-Boeing.

Written by Marc Camoletti and translated by Beverley Cross and Francis Evans, the play provides a funny and nostalgic view of air hostesses jetting off to all corners of the globe and returning to an idyllic life in their French apartment with their fiancé.

The story revolves around the antics of Bernard, a charming bachelor juggling three beautiful flight attendant fiancées, each unaware of the others. With the arrival of a new, faster Boeing jet, Bernard’s perfectly timed schedule is thrown into chaos, leading to a whirlwind of mistaken identities, romantic entanglements and uproarious situations.

The play marks Neil Phillips’ directorial debut; he recently played Wishee Washee in New Forest Players’ seasonal panto. Neil said: ”What I love about farces is the exaggerated characters, slapstick comedy and the way the audience is often one step ahead of the script, knowing what’s about to happen. This anticipation makes it even funnier when the scenario plays out.

“Boeing-Boeing embodies these elements perfectly, with its rapid pace, witty word play and larger-than-life characters. It’s a joy to bring such a vibrant and energetic story to life. While some of the themes are ‘of their time,’ given that the play was written and first performed in the ’60s, I hope the farcical nature allows audiences to enjoy the humour and charm of this classic play.”

Lymington Players’ Boeing-Boeing is on stage at the Malt Hall from 12th to 17th May at 7.30pm. Tickets from £12. To book visit lymingtonplayers.co.uk
