THE feel-good show Kinky Boots arrives at Bournemouth Pavilion Theatre for a run of six performances.

Inspired by true events, the musical is set in a fictional shoe factory in Northampton, where Charlie Price reluctantly inherits his father’s company on the verge of bankruptcy.

Trying to live up to his dad’s legacy and save the family business, Charlie finds inspiration in the form of Lola, a fabulous entertainer in need of some sturdy stilettos. Lola turns out to be the one person who can help Charlie become the man he’s meant to be.

The Bournemouth and Boscombe Light Opera Company show will star Matt Stockham in the lead role of Charlie Price and Lea Martin as Lola.

Director Helen Barrington said: “In a world full of so much negativity and hate, it’s wonderful to be spending the past few months on a show all about love, acceptance and being who you want to be, no matter who you are, what your background is, or where you’re from.

“The message oozing out of this production can be enjoyed and understood by all.”

Regarded as a firm favourite with UK theatregoers, the show has previously secured Olivier Awards for best new musical, best costume design and best actor in a musical.

Based on a book by Broadway legend and four-time Tony Award-winner Harvey Fierstein, and songs by Grammy and Tony-winning pop icon Cyndi Lauper, the joyous musical is billed as a celebration of friendship and self-belief.

Kinky Boots runs for six performances at the Pavilion Theatre from today (Wednesday) to Saturday, 16th April. Tickets are £19.50 to £23.50 and are available online at www.bhlivetickets.co.uk
