Mudeford artist Keith Rogers to launch exhibition at New Milton’s Forest Arts
MUDEFORD artist Keith Rogers will launch an exhibition of his work with a live performance of Vivaldi’s Four Season’s at New Milton’s Forest Arts.
Well known for his semi-abstract work, Keith will be showcasing his work at the New Milton venue until 10th July.
The exhibition will be officially launched at 6.30pm on Saturday 8th June, with live music by the Bossard String Quartet beginning at 7.30pm.
The exhibition is called Reflections in a Venetian Dream and includes large expressive paintings of the Four Seasons, pastels and prints.
Reflecting the magic of the seasons, these large scale, semi-abstract and expressive paintings are full of complex colours and patterns, and are packed with energy and movement.
Keith said: “Nature bursts into life as rainbow tulips ignite the spring; mellow mallow and friends say hello to the summer sun; falling leaves of gold dance in the autumn breeze; and in the glow of a snow moon, the tide turns and the ice cracks.”
Each painting takes Keith weeks and sometimes months to complete. The works are infused with colour to generate an emotional response.
Keith said: “They are about the reaction of one colour to another; about deliberate marks that evoke spontaneous ones; about the textured strokes of a palette knife versus the softness of a brush; and about layers upon layers of paint creating their own moments in time.
Keith added: “The paintings are semi abstract, verging on abstract, and it is always interesting to see the reaction, most often, about the colour and how it reflects nature.”
Admission to the exhibition launch is free but places should be booked by visiting www.forest-arts.co.uk
