Daphne’s Flight coming to New Milton’s Forest Arts 21st September
ACCLAIMED individually as five of the finest singer-songwriters of their generation, Daphne’s Flight will be at New Milton’s Forest Arts on Thursday 21st September.
Comprising Chris While, Julie Matthews, Helen Watson, Melanie Harrold and Miranda Sykes, Daphne’s Flight are hailed by audiences for their complex harmony arrangements, unbridled energy and infectious joy of performing together.
In 2022 the band began a new era after Christine Collister left for personal reasons and Miranda Sykes (Show of Hands) joined. The result was a critically acclaimed tour in May that year.
With a new blend of personalities and musical synergy, Daphne’s Flight continue to build on the momentum of their 2017 reunion tour.
Well known as successful solo artists, together the five powerful female voices create a unique force, producing music that is relatable, moving and uplifting and creating a chemistry on stage that is both joyful and contagious.
Blending the instrumental sparkle and songwriting creds of the Traveling Wilburys with the vocal prowess of Sweet Honey In The Rock, together the five-piece creates a unique sound and energy which unites singer-songwriter, folk, blues and more.
During their New Milton gig, the band will showcase tracks from their new album Love is the Weapon of Choice, which features 10 songs with women-centric themes combined with breathtaking harmonies and intricate arrangements.
Daphne’s Flight first performed together 25 years ago at Cambridge Folk Festival, before recording an album and touring the following year in 1996.
They will be at Forest Arts on Thursday 21st September at 7.30pm. Tickets are £20.
