THERE will be much merriment as the Travelling Players arrive in Fawley with seasonal show A Humbug Christmas Carol.

Organised by Waterside Arts, the family friendly production will have a number of concessionary tickets available for low-income households. The show is a co-production between Forest Forge Theatre Company, Bumblefly Theatre and Mischievous Theatre.

A spokesperson for Waterside Arts said: “This performance is designed to send you home warm and happy after the rigours of Christmas and New Year and has been generously sponsored by Cllr Alexis McEvoy.

“Thanks to this sponsorship, Waterside Arts can offer a limited number of tickets at subsidised rates, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy this festive event.”

The Jubilee Hall will be transported back to Victorian London as the troupe arrives with their suitcases bursting with merriment, mayhem, and a touch of humbug to bring to life the haunting tale of Ebenezer Scrooge.

The spokesperson said: “Join us as the tight-fisted curmudgeon is visited by the ghosts of Christmas past, present, and future.

“Between dusk and dawn Scrooge is tortured by the ghosts. Will he mend his ways? Will he become a new man? Will he greet the morning with a ‘Merry Christmas everyone?’

“Through their unique brand of quirky storytelling, live action, music, a puppet or two, a host of Gothic surprises, some ghostly flights of fancy and a clanking of chains, the Travelling Players bring this yuletide classic to life. Join us for this heartfelt hug of a tale!”

As Dickens himself said: “There is nothing in the world so irresistibly contagious as laughter and good humour.”

A Humbug Christmas Carol will be on stage at Jubilee Hall, Fawley on 2nd January at 3pm. Tickets are from £2.50 to £10 per person and are available at www.watersidearts.org.uk
