Since the Conservative government introduced the pay cap on public service workers in 2010 MPs have increased their own salaries by 20%. Expenses claims are back to where they were before the expenses scandal.

Could there be any more stark example of the policy of austerity being applied to ‘them’ and not us?

Black Lives Matter protests have highlighted racism in this country, and one very significant element of racism is the widening wealth gap in society.

Protests get nasty when demonstrators have multiple issues related to poverty and injustice and overstretched and under resourced police forces in riot gear and on horseback resort to ‘kettling’ demonstrators and applying curfews.

Boris’s solution? Open the pubs, at a calculated cost in lives lost, and hope by 2024 BLM protests and Covid-19 will seem distant history, and he can find yet another slogan to bamboozle the less attentive into giving him a second term.
