SPITTING at a police officer landed an Ashley man with an 84-day prison sentence.

Kyran Hambling (26), of Andrew Lane, spat at PC Bartosz Tluchowski at Southampton General Hospital in September last year, the city’s magistrates’ court heard.

He initially denied the charge but changed his plea this year and was ordered to pay the officer £100 compensation.

Hambling had also previously been convicted at Dorset Magistrates’ Court of abusive behaviour at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital and damaging a cell at Bournemouth police station in October this year.

Hambling had further admitted using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour towards a man in Hythe and damaging windows and doors in March.

He was told to pay the victim £100 compensation over those matters which had put him in breach of a conditional discharge he was given for doing £80 damage to a Fawley house.
