The application by Couloir Homes for Elcock Associates at 83 The Grove includes the creation of an additional storey to accommodate five two-bedroom flats.
The existing car park to the rear would be retained for five vehicles, with areas adjacent to the building converted to private gardens for the ground-floor apartments. Proposals also include a secure bin and bike store.
Couloir Homes stated in its application that the upper-floor windows had been “carefully designed to prevent overlooking” into the neighbouring properties.
“The proposed dwelling will remain within the existing building footprint to ensure there is sufficient distance to all boundaries,” the applicant stated.
“Its scale would be similar in terms of footprint and height to the surrounding dwellings. As such, it is considered the proposed building would fit into the urban grain without difficulty.”
