A NEW Milton man will stand trial in August over a town centre collision which claimed the life of an elderly pedestrian.

Gary Horbury (57), of Ferndale Road, pleaded not guilty to causing the death of Margaret Fraser by driving without due care and attention, when he appeared before Southampton Crown Court today (Friday).

He was at the wheel of a HGV at the time of the incident in Station Road on 20th January, the court heard.

Horbury was granted unconditional bail to reappear for a five-day trial, which was listed to start on 2nd August 2021.

Mrs Fraser, who was 89, was described as “inspirational” in a tribute after the incident. A post-mortem examination found she died of multiple injuries.
