NEW Forest Wildlife Park is appealing for donations so its animals – including wolves and bison – can be cared for and fed during the coronavirus outbreak.

The attraction, near Ashurst, is closed to visitors whose entrance fee normally goes towards looking after the creatures that live there.

They include wolves, types of otters, and European bison, as well as wild boar, deer and a variety of owls.

But as the park is currently closed it is now asking people to crowdfund to raise £5,000 for animal food and staff salaries.

In a post on its website, the park said: “The daily work of caring and feeding all the animals continues as usual for our excellent animals’ keepers.

“We have many endangered species and work within global breeding programmes to ensure a future for all the animals who share our planet.

“We understand that as a nation we are all struggling to come to terms with the changing situation we are living through.

“But if there is any way you feel you could help us continue to maintain the wildlife park so we can reopen in the near future and continue with our educational and conservation work it would be immensely appreciated.”
