Sydenhams Premier: Christchurch FC 3-1 Hamble Club
CHRISTCHURCH FC remain in touching distance of league leaders Alresford Town after beating Hamble Club 3-1 at Hurn Bridge.
Church got off to a perfect start inside a minute as Luke Stone found the back of the net. The hosts doubled their advantage three minutes later as Brad Cherrett converted from the spot to give the in-form side a buffer.
In the second half, the game opened up, and both teams went on the offensive. Christchurch had several good chances to kill the game off which included a missed penalty. However, Matt Neale scored on 81 minutes to give the hosts a deserved three-goal lead.
However, Hamble did manage to get on the scoresheet from the second penalty of the game a minute later when Nathan Lynch fired past Max Frampton.
Christchurch manager Ollie Cherrett told the A&T: “After not playing for two weeks and Christmas festivities I asked the lads to start well and show a desire to win games and show how much they want to play.
“We did put the game to bed with the third goal, which secured a great three points for us. It was a great way to end 2019, and I am looking forward to an exciting 2020.”
Christchurch will look to continue their good league form on 4th January with an away trip to Fleet Town.
Christchurch sit fourth in the Sydenhams Premier table but have three games in hand over top side Alresford who are eight points ahead.
