Man arrested over string of burglaries across the New Forest

A MAN has been arrested in connection with a string of burglaries across the New Forest over a period of two months.


Police investigation reports garages and vehicles had been raided, with hauls of power tools, a vehicle and a laptop computer among the items stolen.

The break-ins took place between 10th November 2020 and 13th January this year at addresses in Solent Avenue, Lymington; Malwood Road, Hythe; and Buchan Court, Dibden Purlieu.

Officers detained a 27-year-old man from Dibden Purlieu on suspicion of two counts of theft from a motor vehicle, one count of burglary with intent to steal and one count of non-dwelling burglary with intent to steal.

The suspect was later released under investigation, pending further police enquiries.

In the wake of this arrest, the force is urging residents to remain vigilant and report any crimes in progress or threats to life by dialling 999.
