Southern Division One South: AFC Totton 1-0 Willand Rovers

AFC TOTTON have tasted victory for the first time this season after a hard-fought 1-0 win over Willand Rovers at the Testwood Community Stadium.

Totton’s goal came in the third minute through Pip Nolan who stole the ball off a Willand defender before firing low past keeper Mike Searle.

The game was played at pace throughout, but the game remained tight despite numerous chances at each end. Searle denied both Craig Feeney and Lewis Beale (pictured left) during the opening period.

After the break, Totton started strongly with both Feeney and Beale denied by the Willand keeper.

A double substitution by Rovers saw Douglas Camillo and Ben Bickie introduced and both were lively with Camillo pulling a terrific full-stretch save out of Totton’s on-loan keeper Alex Cull.

Willand substitute Bickie came closest to scoring for the visitors when he rattled the Totton crossbar after cutting in from the left.

Totton went back on the attack and forced a corner from which Dave Allen headed over. Substitute Liam Callaghan played in Feeney whose deflected shot was saved by Searle.

The visitors searched for an equaliser late on. However, Cull was on hand to keep a clean sheet and hand three points to the Stags.
